Gaea and Uranus are one of the oldest mythological figures in Greek mythology. They ruled the world before the Titans and the Gods. Not only that they also gave birth to the TItans. To start of Gaea is the Earth, the mother of everything. In some stories she coexisted with Chaos and Eros during the creation of the world and in another version is that the three of them were born out of the Cosmic Egg which itself was born out of nothingness. From the union of Gaea and Chaos Uranus was born and Gaea and Uranus gave birth to the Giants, the Titans, Oceanus and the whole world. Uranus stopped Gaea from creating anything else by sending his children into her. Gaea was furious and allied with one of her Titan sons, Kronos, and overthrew Uranus. But due to the cruelty of Kronos Gaea also assisted Zeus in overthrowing Kronos.
Uranus was a primal Greek god who symbolized the sky. According to some stories Uranus was born only out of Gaea some say that it was Gaea and Chaos and some say that it was Gaea and Aether. Uranus and Gaea had many children but Uranus hated them and banished them to Tartarus. Gaea was very mad and created a diamond sickle which she gave to her son Kronos and he killed his father in his sleep. From the blood that fell on the ground, the giants were born and from the blood that fell in the sea, Aphrodite was born.
